The TIG method utilizes a non-consumable tungsten electrode (141) with a very high melting point, reaching 3400°C, between which a stable, conical electric arc is formed and the workpiece being welded. The filler material can be fed manually or mechanically and is drawn into the weld pool by surface tension forces. When properly performed, this allows for very high-quality, virtually spatter-free welds. Thanks to its precision, the TIG method is suitable for welding a wide range of materials – from unalloyed steels to non-ferrous metals and alloys – wherever the highest functional and aesthetic properties of the joints are required.
